Paths to Meditation series: Introduction to Meditation
Republic of Yoga is pleased to host a series of events dedicated to meditation. Each month, different hosts will present a different path or angle for the practice. Our first event in the series will serve as an introduction.
Have you been wishing to learn meditation, yet felt reluctant to start on your own?
Or maybe you tried following a book or a video, and it didn’t quite pan out the way you wished?
This Introductory Workshop to Meditation is designed for the novice, as well as for anyone who ever tried the practice and felt it may not be for them. It is also a wonderful workshop for people who have done meditation in the past, but have dropped out, and are looking to restart their practice.

Plenty of myths and misconceptions present themselves as obstacles for anyone attempting meditation. The poet Rumi once wrote about love that “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” So in meditation; we already know much of what we need, all we require is to remove the misconceptions that we have about what exactly is meditation. The workshop includes a host of techniques to get the us started, as well as suggestions for how to make mediation an ongoing part of our lives.
